Friends of the Library--Anne Schnatter Named Interim Director
North Carolina State alumna Anne Achurch Schnatter joined the
Friends of the Library (FOL) as its interim director on July 5,
2005. Schnatter directs a growing membership organization of more
than 1,200 individuals and serves as executive secretary for the
FOL Board of Directors. Schnatter manages and coordinates FOL activities,
directs membership drives, participates in fund-raising, and contributes
to public relations initiatives. She plans and organizes FOL events,
such as the annual Spring Dinner and book sale, as well as a variety
of special lectures and programs for FOL members, the university,
and the community. She also directs day-to-day operations of the
FOL office.
Schnatter is a former employee of the NCSU Libraries who served
as administrative assistant in the Office of the Director and as
the personnel office manager. She left the Libraries in 1989 to
pursue a career in social work and held highly responsible positions
in that field in New York and Wake County. In her work at the NCSU
Libraries, she supervised office staff, wrote and edited library
publications, provided administrative support to the director,
and regularly communicated with donors, faculty, staff, and other
library visitors. Schnatter earned a bachelor’s degree in
social work from NCSU and a master’s in social work from
UNC-Chapel Hill.
