Friends of the Library News -- Hill of Beans Ongoing Book Sale a Success
By Mary Kate Keith, Friends of the Library
Those who have not visited the D. H. Hill Library's Hill of Beans Coffee Bar
may not have noticed the bookshelves at the back of the seating area. These
bookshelves are filled with used books for an ongoing book sale, maintained
by the Friends of the Library. Books of all types that have been donated to
the library are offered for sale, with proceeds benefiting the NCSU Libraries
Preservation Endowment. Sales are conducted on the honor system, and customers
deposit $1.00 per paperback and $4.00 per hardback into a box attached to the
shelves. Since the sale began in March, proceeds have totaled more than $1,200.
The next time you visit the D. H. Hill Library, grab a cup of coffee and take
advantage of these great buys on books.
The Friends also hosted a book sale from April 25 to 27, 2002, in the College
of Textiles atrium on Centennial Campus. The successful spring sale raised
more than $5,000 for the Burlington Textiles Library Endowment.
