Faculty and Staff Campaign for the NCSU Libraries: Progress Report
By Tony Reevy, Library Development
On September 10, 2000, University Library Committee (ULC) chair Karl Bowman
and five former ULC chairpersons launched the committee's Faculty and Staff
Campaign for the NCSU Libraries with a special mailing to university employees.
The solicitation encouraged NC State faculty and staff to support the Libraries
by giving to the Faculty Endowment for the Libraries' Collections or by founding
an Incubator Endowment account through either a onetime payment or payroll
deduction.
Response to the campaign is heartening. As of February 13, 2001, fifty-eight
members of the NC State community have given to the campaign. Gifts, which
total $37,654, include one pledge to create a full-fledged library endowment,
and twelve Incubator Endowment accounts created through payroll deduction commitments
or outright gifts of $1,000 or more.
A campaign update will be mailed to the university community in spring and
fall 2001. The campaign will close on December 31, 2001. To make a gift to
the Faculty and Staff Campaign for the NCSU Libraries, call the Friends of
the Library between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays at (919) 515-2841. The
Friends office can also supply payroll deduction forms.
