Fabulous 50: First Woman to Earn PhD in College of Engineering

With this post, Special Collections News begins a new series highlighting milestone anniversaries (Fabulous 50 and Wonderful 100) of important events in NC State history.  Stay tuned for future posts!

Today we remember Anna Clyde Fraker, who received her Ph.D. in 1967.  She was the first woman to earn a doctorate at NC State University's College of Engineering.  Fraker was in the ceramic engineering program, and her dissertation was titled The Eta Carbides of Molybdenum-iron, Molybdenum-cobalt, and Molybdenum-nickel.
