Where did the Reference Desk go? Relocation of Public Service Points
In preparation for renovation of the D. H. Hill Library's East Wing, many public service points and library staff have been relocated, including the Reference Desk and public computing area. Renovation will begin in March 2005 and is expected to be completed by fall 2006.

Here are directions to the new locations of the Reference Desk, the reference collection, the public computer workstations, and an expanded number of photocopiers -- as well as alternative routes to the East Wing's ground floor (including the Special Collections Research Center), second floor (e.g. the Digital Media Lab & ITTC Labs), and third floor (e.g. Personnel Services). These floor plans show the temporary locations described in the directions.

While the first floor of the East Wing will be inaccessible during construction, the other floors of the East Wing will remain open most of the time. The north staircase and elevators in the East Wing will remain accessible throughout the period of renovation, though the exact location of passage to them may change as construction proceeds. Directions will be clearly marked.

To the extent possible, any loud construction will be limited to hours of lowest library use, and the library will work with construction staff to keep disruption to a minimum throughout the various stages of renovation. The Libraries appreciates the patience of its patrons during this transition.
