Dabney Hall (1969), which is attached to Cox Hall, is named after Charles William Dabney, a chemist and director of the North Carolina Agricultural Experiment Station. He also served as U.S. ambassador to Brazil and as president of the University of Tennessee and University of Virginia. The desk at which Dabney, a member of the Watauga Club (Watauga Hall), drafted the bill that led to the establishment of NC State is housed in the NC State University Archives.
