Tucker Hall, built in 1947, is named after Irvin Burchard Tucker who was enrolled at NC State from 1896 to 1899 before transferring to UNC-CH to study law. Tucker practiced law in Whiteville, North Carolina for more than forty years, was an important local leader, and served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina from 1922 to 1930. He was also a trustee of the University of North Carolina as well as a trustee and president of NC State's alumni association.
