Turlington Residence Hall was one of several residences (Alexander Hall and Honors Village) whose construction was financed by the Public Works Administration after the Great Depression. Built in 1940 and renovated in 1990, it is named after John Edwin Turlington, who graduated from NC State in 1907 and became a prominent agricultural economist. He worked at the University of Florida and University of Georgia and served as superintendent of the Craven County Farm Life School for three years.
