Scott Hall, built in 1952 and renovated in 1992, is named after Robert Walter Scott, a member of both the State House of Representatives and the State Senate. He was also the first president of the North Carolina Farmers' Convention. Against the opposition of Samuel Ledgerwood Patterson, he pushed through the appropriations bill that placed Patterson Hall on the NC State campus instead of in downtown Raleigh. His son W. Kerr Scott and grandson Bob Scott served as governors of North Carolina.
