Riddick Hall, formerly known as Riddick Engineering Laboratories, was built in 1951 and renovated in 1990 and 2007. It is named after Wallace Carl Riddick who succeeded D.H. Hill (D.H. Hill Library) as NC State's president from 1917 to 1923. From 1923 to 1937, he served as the first Dean of the School of Engineering. During the late 1890s, Riddick was NC State's first football coach. Riddick Stadium (built in 1907, closed in 1965, and demolished in 2005) was also named after him.
