Primrose Hall was built in 1896 and renovated in 1986. Over the years, it has served many purposes, including as a student supply store and the first home of the School of Agriculture. It was the first building to be renamed in honor of one of the college's distinguished supporters. William Stuart Primrose, a successful business man and member of the Watauga Club (Watauga Hall), served on the college's Board of Trustees for 20 years and was elected twice the Board's chairman.
