Page Hall was built in 1922 and renovated in 1988. It is named after Walter Hines Page who was a graduate of the first class at Johns Hopkins University and whose family had founded the city of Cary, NC. As editor of the Raleigh State Chronicle and member of the Watauga Club (Watauga Hall), he strongly supported the foundation of the university. Later, he became editor of the Atlantic Monthly, and from 1913 until his death in 1918, he served with distinction as U.S. ambassador to Britain.
