It was constructed from 1967 to 1969 to... The Brickyard (officially named University Plaza) was conceived by Raleigh landscape architect Richard C. Bell, who also designed Pullen Park east of Main Campus. It was constructed from 1967 to 1969 to cover the mud and dirt that resulted from construction on North Campus during the 1950s and 1960s. The Brickyard is bordered by D.H. Hill Library, Harrelson Hall, Williams Hall, and Bostian Hall and houses campus events such as the annual Habitat for Humanity Shack-a-thon.
