Schaub Hall, built in 1968, is named after Ira Obed Schaub. Schaub, who graduated from NC State in 1900, went on to become a national pioneer in the field of agricultural extension. After working at the Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station and at Iowa State, he was named the first director of the North Carolina corn clubs--which would become the 4-H Clubs--in 1909. He was director of the Agricultural Extension Service and served as Dean of the School of Agriculture from 1926 to 1945.
