The ConeZone
The NCSU Libraries can currently offer study seats to less than 5% of the NCSU student body, far below the 20% recommended by the UNC system. The planned new James B. Hunt Jr. Library will add a considerable number of study seats, but it is not scheduled to open until 2012. In spring of 2009, however, some careful planning helped to close some of the seating gap.
By consolidating service points, the ongoing makeover of D. H. Hill's West Wing made room for an area adjacent to The Creamery that now provides 60 seats for students to use for informal group study sessions, individual work, or for enjoying the new Howling Cow ice cream between long sessions.
