NCSU Libraries Learning Commons

Borrowing Procedures

  • Laptops may be borrowed for building use from the Learning Commons Service Desk, the Express Desk, and the circulation desks of the branch libraries. Users must present a valid All-Campus card.

  • Laptops are loaned for a four-hour period, on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • One four-hour renewal of the loan is available upon request, if other users are not waiting for a laptop.

  • Borrowers will be asked to complete a loan agreement accepting responsibility for any loss or damage to the computer, and costs of repair or replacement attributable to a borrower will be charged to that borrower.

  • USB drives are available for purchase from a vending machine in the photocopy services lobby at D. H. Hill.

  • All laptops are due back to the desk from which they were borrowed no later than one hour before the library closes (when applicable), and they stop circulating two hours before closing.

Though laptops checked out from D.H. Hill Library are not to leave the building, an exception is made in the case of a fire alarm. If the fire alarm sounds, please take the laptop outside with you and return with it when you reenter the building.
