The NCSU Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. This position offers the opportunity to join a dynamic department as one of three librarians among a departmental staff of 19 working in a highly collaborative environment. The Acquisitions Department acquires monographs and serials in all formats to support teaching, learning, and research at the university. Almost $8 million dollars of the Libraries’ $10 million dollar collections budget is directed to electronic resources. The NCSU Libraries maintains 52,000 subscriptions in multiple formats. All collections are acquired and processed centrally, using the Sirsi Dynix Unicorn integrated library system, SFX, and E-Matrix, a locally developed electronic resources management system.
Responsibilities
The Electronic Resources Librarian has a lead role in acquiring and licensing electronic resources. She or he works closely with colleagues to establish and manage access to these materials and maintains critical working relationships with vendors, publishers, and consortium partners. The incumbent manages projects, develops workflow, trains staff, and formulates strategic plans for an increasingly electronic serials environment. In collaboration with other departments, she or he coordinates the tracking and maintenance of materials and develops and analyzes statistical and management reports. The Electronic Resources Librarian participates in planning and serves on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams. Librarians at NCSU Libraries are expected to be active professionally and to contribute to developments in the field. Reports to the Associate Head of Acquisitions.
Qualifications
Required: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent advanced degree in library or information science. Outstanding written and oral communications and interpersonal skills are expected, as are demonstrated analytical, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will possess information technology competency in relevant areas, such as database management and integrated library systems. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities is essential, as is the ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both as a team member and independently and to promote teamwork among colleagues. Candidates should show evidence of ability for ongoing professional development and contribution.
Preferred: Knowledge of the serials industry, serials publishing trends, and contracts and licensing issues in an academic library setting is preferred. Experience with licenses and managing electronic resources is a desirable.

With a staff of 280+ FTE, the Libraries has nearly 3.6 million volumes in its collection, acquires more than 54,000 print and electronic serials, and has a total annual budget of over $25 million, with approximately $9 million allocated to collections. The Libraries is the lead server site for NC LIVE (North Carolina Libraries for Virtual Education), a multi-type library initiative, making digital resources accessible to North Carolina citizens.

Association of Research Libraries, the Digital Library Federation, the Coalition
for Networked Information, the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition, the Council for Library and Information Resources, and the Center for Research Libraries. Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University, and North Carolina State University form the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN), with combined resources exceeding 13 million volumes and collections budgets totaling more than $29 million.
Salary and Benefits
The Libraries offers highly competitive salaries in recognition of applicable education and experience, not less than $47,000 for this position. Relocation allowance provided. Librarians have non-tenure track faculty status (without levels of rank). Benefits include: 24 days vacation, 12 days sick leave; State of NC preferred provider medical insurance, and state, TIAA/CREF, or other retirement options.
