Information Technology Projects
Information Technology collaborates on numerous software development projects, ranging from maintenance and
support for off-the-shelf products to ground-up development of applications and services. None of the highlighted
projects in the list below is a solo effort and includes the valuable input of colleagues, teams, and committees
throughout the Libraries.
Branded as WolfBlogs and WolfWikis, this campus-wide service is supported by the Libraries and
uses Roller Blogger and Wikimedia, respectively.

A searchable interface for over 20,000 slides from the library at the College of Design.

A Serials, Journals and Electronic Resource Management System currently in the
later stages of development at the NCSU Libraries. The project was born out of the need to better manage the licensing, access,
description, and reporting complexities involving electronic resources at the NCSU Libraries.

Submission, browsing and searching of all (required submission since April 2002) NCSU Theses and Dissertations.

Leveraging the advanced search and Guided Navigation® capabilities of the Endeca ProFind™
platform, the NCSU Libraries' new catalog provides the speed and flexibility of popular online search engines while
capitalizing on existing catalog records.

InsideWood integrates wood anatomical information from the literature and original observations
into an internet-accessible database useful for research and teaching.

IT provides hardware, software, and development support for the Libraries new Learning
Commons and renovated spaces, opening March 2007.
This online collection contains over 1,500 images from the University Archives Photograph Collection; this number
will soon grow to include nearly 10,000 images.

LOCKSS
NCSU Libraries is a participant in the LOCKSS initiative.

MetaLib XServer
The Libraries is deploying Ex Libris' MetaLib with its own look and feel using XServer.

Web-based tool that allows patrons to receive email containing the current tables of contents for many of the
most popular NCSU Libraries journal titles.

Web-based tool that provides students with a personalized view of library course
reserves and other course-related library materials.

SFX
Link resolver software is availabe using Ex Libris SFX.

Unicorn Integrated Library System
IT supports all functionality of the SirsiDynix ILS.

A searchable database of meetings held by Congressional committees since 1985, those for
which printed transcripts are issued, and those that remain unprinted.
Web Statistics - Urchin
IT uses Urchin software to track general website usage as well as special tracking of application usage.
