Library Instruction Options for First Year Writing
There are four library instruction options available to
ENG 101 Instructors. Please choose the options that work best for you and your
students. I also welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you to create or improve library research assignments.
| LOBO |
LOBO is a web-based information literacy tutorial developed by NCSU
Libraries for providing baseline search skills for new library users.
The tutorial takes students through the entire research process and is
a mandatory part of the Freshman Composition curriculum.
To access LOBO, students can go to the Libraries' home page and find
the LOBO link under the Services menu or simply enter "LOBO" in the search
box on the Libraries' home page. You can also link to LOBO from your
class web pages.
To help you integrate LOBO into your course, please see our suggestions
for integrating LOBO into your curriculum. |
| Getting Started: Video Guides |
The library has a variety of video guides to help your students. These videos are found throughout LOBO, but can also be accessed from our Video and Interactive Guides web page
|
| D.H. Hill Library Tour |
If you feel your students would benefit from an orientation to the library building and service points, complete this form to request the latest copy of our cooperative learning tour activity. This activity uses active learning and peer-to-peer learning to introduce students to the library space. |
| Guides to Library Research |
These topic and subject-specific
guides explain how to find librarian-recommended resources in the
library. You may also e-mail me to request
a new guide for your courses. |
| Class Workshop |
If you feel that your students have research which is not addressed by LOBO, a tour, or a research guide, you may schedule a class workshop tailored to their specific needs.
Please use our online form to request your workshop.
