Instruction Support Services
First Year Writing Program
The Libraries has enjoyed a long-standing and successful collaboration with the First Year Writing Program, assisting and advising with library research instruction. Please choose among the following options or contact Anne Burke, Undergraduate Instruction & Outreach Librarian, to customize a research instruction plan for your classes.
Teach Yourself: Finding Articles with Summon: An interactive instructional package that covers the basics of finding articles using the NCSU Libraries' main article search tool, Summon.
Videos & Interactive Guides: A growing collection of videos and interactive guides to help students understand the research process and the mechanics of finding information.
These tutorials pair well with our Library Basics assignments:
|Research Guides: Library research guides to help novice users locate information
related to disciplinary interests, popular topics of study, and special formats.
LOBO: A web-based information literacy tutorial developed by the NCSU Libraries to provide baseline search skills for new library users.
|Request Library Instruction: If you feel that your students have research needs which are not addressed by LOBO, a video tutorial, a tour, or a research guide, you may schedule a class workshop tailored to their specific needs.|
