Graduate Chemistry Research Research Guide

Librarian: Josh Wilson

Information and research are strongly interdependent,
especially in chemistry and other sciences.

Information is important in planning and performing
research, such as when a scientist consults the work of
others in his or her field to identify previous research on a topic or to collect specific information about a chemical or process.

Information is also a product of the research process, such
as when a scientist publishes a journal article describing
their research.

This guide will:

  • provide an overview of the research & information cycle,
  • identify the key types of chemistry information important in research, and
  • provide lists of key resources and guidance on locating chemical information in the NCSU Libraries.
