GIS Lookup: Detailed Data Layer Listing

Data Layer GraphicTitle: "Shoreline 1:24,000-scale- Polygon" (1998)

Description: The Office of State Planning, NC Center for Geographic Information and Analysis, with the aid of The Research Triangle Institute, created the GIS data set, Shoreline 1:24,000-scale, to be used as a template for the Closed Shellfish Harvesting Areas data layer. This layer depicts the coastal North Carolina shoreline, is a subset of the USGS linework from the 1:24,000-scale quadrangles, but is not a complete replication of the shoreline on those quadrangles. This data was created to assist governmental agencies and others in making resource management decisions through use of a Geographic Information System (GIS), and to assist in the mapping of the Closed Shellfish Havesting Areas.
