Description: The NC Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management, identified hurricane evacuation routes for the purpose of evacuating residents in eastern North Carolina in the event of a hurricane. The roads area a subset of the Department of Transportation digital roads data created to enable users to display and analyze primary, secondary and local routes. The base data are statewide Primary Roads consisting of Interstates, US Routes, and NC Routes. This data layer was created to assist governmental decisions through use of a Geographic Information System (GIS).
