Description: SRTM Void Areas (North West, one of six data sets) represents those areas without elevation values within the SRTM coverage area (between 60 degrees North and 56 degrees South latitude) of the world. These void areas are a result of radar shadow, layover, and other effects of terrain, as well as technical radar interferometry phase unwrapping issues. These void areas also represent those areas where ESRI calculated an elevation value. The vast majority of voids were filled using a Delta Surface Fill (DSF) method utilizing the SRTM and GTOPO30. Any remaining voids were interpolated using the elevation values from the DSF method. SRTM Void Areas provides data quality information about the source and accuracy of the elevation values.
