The NC Center for Geographic Information and Analysis acquired the voting districts shapefiles for the state of North Carolina from the General Assembly/Information Systems Division. These data represent the boundaries of 2003 House districts in North Carolina, ratified Nov. 25, 2003. Each district is labeled with unique district identification number. The shapefiles were processed into ARC/INFO coverages and projected from Decimal Degrees to Stateplane NAD83 meters projection.
These data were created to display the boundaries of voting districts, and to enable users to display voting districts with other geographic features.

House districts shapefiles were acquired from the General Assembly, Information Systems Division, ratified Nov. 25, 2003. The shapefiles were converted to ARC/INFO coverages, cleaned with a dangle and fuzzy tolerance of .0001 and projected from Decimal Degrees projection to Stateplane NAD83 meters projection, resulting in a statewide districts coverage.
Using ESRI's ARC/INFO GIS software, the dataset was built for arc and polygon topology using the "build" command. The data set was then cleaned with a fuzzy tolerance of 1 meter. Topology has not been edited since the last build or clean.
These data represent the boundaries of 2003 House districts in North Carolina. Each district is labeled with unique district identification number as supplied by the General Assembly, Information Systems Division data.
No positional changes were made by NC CGIA.

A polygon coverage depicting 2003 House voting districts classified by the Information Services Division of the General Assembly. The polygon attribute table (PAT) has attribute data including the polygon internal identification number, the polygon user identification number, the identification number of each House district, and the number of census blocks in each district. There are no look up tables, annotation or cartosets for these data. >DNCHOU92.PAT Polygon Attribute Table >COLUMN ITEM NAME WIDTH OUTPUT TYPE DEC DESCRIPTION >1 AREA 8 18 F 5 Total area in meters >5 PERIMETER 8 18 F 5 Total perimeter in meters >17 DNCHOU04# 4 5 B - Poly internal id number >13 DNCHOU04-ID 4 5 B - Poly user id number >17 DISTRICT 2 3 B - District id number >21 COUNT 8 15 F 0 Number of census blocks > >DNCHOU92.AAT Arc Attribute Table >COLUMN ITEM NAME WIDTH OUTPUT TYPE DEC DESCRIPTION >1 FNODE# 4 5 B - From-node id of linear feature >5 TNODE# 4 5 B - To-node id of linear feature >9 LPOLY# 4 5 B - Left-side polygon id of linear feature >13 RPOLY# 4 5 B - Right-side polygon id of linear feature >17 LENGTH 8 18 F 5 Length of linear feature in meters >21 DNCHOU04# 4 5 B - Internal id number >25 DNCHOU04-ID 4 5 B - Internal id number
