The College of Humanities and Social Sciences was formerly known as the School of Liberal Arts and grew out of the School of General Studies and the Basic Division. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Division of Continuing Education jointly administered the Summer Institute in English. The Summer Institute in English program was set up to provide English language training for foreign students.

 Scope and Content Note

Collection contains reports, reports, brochures, and correspondence primarily pertaining to translation services, the Summer Institute in English for foreign students, and a limited amount of miscellaneous materials from the department. The Summer Institute in English was jointly administered by the Dept. of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Division of Continuing Education. The program was set up to provide for the language needs of foreign students who require English training.
