 Historical Note

The first chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a national honorary society for premedical students, was established at the University of Alabama in 1926. The North Carolina State University chapter (Delta Chapter) of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Society was petitioned for and incorporated in 1974. At NC State, this honor society replaced the existing Premedical and Predental Club, which had been active on campus since at least 1971. The society's mission is to encourage and recognize excellence in premedical scholarship; to stimulate an appreciation of the importance of premedical education; to promote communication between medical and premedical students and educators; to provide a forum for students with common interests; and to use its resources to benefit health organizations charities and the community.
