<abstract encodinganalog="520">The Clarence Hamilton Poe pamphlet contains Christmas wishes and an essay entitled <title render="doublequote">A Call to All Who Love the South,</title> in which he addresses southern culture and race relations. </abstract>
<abstract encodinganalog="545">Clarence Hamilton Poe (1881 - 1964) became the editor of  <title render="italic">The Progressive Farmer</title> in 1899 and formed the Progressive Farmer Company in 1903. He served as both president and editor of the company from 1903 until 1953, and retired as president in 1954. He then became the chairman of the board of directors and senior editor. Poe advocated better agriculture, health, and education for the people of North Carolina and the South. He was the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees at North Carolina State College from 1920 to 1931, and a member of the Consolidated University of North Carolina Board of Trustees from 1931 to 1955. He received honorary degrees from several schools, including North Carolina State College (now North Carolina State University) and the University of North Carolina.</abstract>
