<p>John Rea "Governor" Morrison, from Charlotte, North Carolina, was a student in the North Carolina State College School of Textiles (later North Carolina State University College of Textiles), 1921-1924. During his time at North Carolina State College Morrison was involved in a number of extracurricular activities, including the Tompkins Textile Society, football and track, and the German and French clubs.</p>

<p>The collection consists of notebooks of John Rea Morrison when he was a student in the <corpname>North Carolina State College School of Textiles</corpname> (later North Carolina State University College of Textiles), 1921-1924. All three notebooks are entirely handwritten, approximately 30 pages each, covering <subject>design and manufacturing of textiles</subject>, and <subject>carding</subject> and <subject>spinning</subject> topics. The design notebook contains a number of colored fabric designs and discussions of each. The carding and spinning notebooks include many hand-drawn diagrams of <subject>textile machinery</subject> and detailed explanation of their design and operation.</p>
