The records of the North Carolina State University Commencement Committee include meeting minutes, information on officers, membership rosters, appointment letters, agendas and reports. Materials range in dates from 1962 to 1991.

The North Carolina State University Commencement Advisory Committee was established at North Carolina State College (later, University) in or before 1962. The Commencement Advisory Committee was renamed the Commencement Committee in or before 1989. The committee is charged with the responsibility of making a continuous review of the scheduling and programming of the various exercises held at commencement time, particularly in regard to the form and content of the commencement exercise itself. The committee is also charged with making recommendations to the Chancellor concerning all of these matters, including speakers. The committee is still active as of 2011.

Biographical/historical note
