The Student Amateur Radio Society (also known at various times as the Amateur Radio Club and the Amateur Radio Society) was first established at NC State in 1930 or 1931, and was still active in 2008.

Biographical/historical note

The Student Amateur Radio Society (also known at various times as the Amateur Radio Club and the Amateur Radio Society) was first established at NC State in 1930 or 1931. The club was licensed under the callsign W4ATC, which it was still using in 2008. The Student Amateur Radio Society has operated out of many different locations around campus during its nearly 80 years of existence, actively exchanging greetings with other amateur radio operators from around the world.

Scope/content

The records of the North Carolina State University Student Amateur Radio Society contain meeting minutes, rosters of members, newsletters, club information, log books of radio activities, and QSL cards documenting calls. Materials range in date from 1930 to 1995.

Arrangement

Files and logs are arranged alphabetically by topic, and then chronologically therein. QSL cards have been kept arranged as recieved, and do not follow any discernable order. W4ATC QSL cards have been separated from the other QSL cards, and can be found in a file in Half Box 6.
