| Abstract: |
Two scrapbooks and four folders of material. These are a scrapbook compiled during Ruggles' student days at North Carolina
State, which contains clippings and other items relating to academics, athletics, social events, and R.O.T.C., as well as
a scrapbook compiled when Ruggles was Director of Extension at North Carolina State, which contains items relating to the
extension program and short courses. Also included is correspondence, 1927-1928, regarding Ruggles' thesis and other materials
relating to his Master's degree and thesis.

The L. R. Harrill Papers contain writings, speeches, journals, personal correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs,
certificates of merit and appreciation, agricultural publications, and mementoes that are associated with Harrill's student
days at North Carolina State College and his long tenure, 1926-1963, as the director of North Carolina's statewide 4-H program,
the largest in the nation. The material provides insight into Harrill's personal life and documents his involvement with the
4-H movement on a local, national, and international level, including the International Farm Youth Exchange. Represented are
letters Harrill wrote as a student at North Carolina State College to his mother and father from 1918 to 1922.
