Abstract: The collection contains documents on the residence at 106 John Street, Louisburg, North Carolina, designed by G. Milton Small and originally owned by the Wheless Family. It includes construction and architectural contracts, land deeds, invoices (for furnishings, landscaping, and contractors), and drawings (plot plans, floor plans, construction plans, property and subdivision surveys), and photographs of the Wheless residence. Also included is 1 CD that contains 118 survey photographs taken by Laura A.W. Phillips for the National Register of Historic Places.

Abstract: The Historic Architecture Research Project Records contain drawings and project files by students in the Department of Architecture, School of Design, at North Carolina State University. Included are measured drawings, photographs, negatives, field notes and sketches, historical information, and essays. The majority of the projects document historic buildings in North Carolina. Twenty-one other states and the District of Columbia are represented, as are Germany, Mexico, and Colombia. Other course-related materials include syllabi, correspondence, uncompleted projects, and a petition to eliminate the course requirement. The correspondence series includes correspondence of professors in the North Carolina State University Department of Architecture, including Cecil D. Elliott, Henry L. Kamphoefner, Vernon Shogren, and Lawrence Wodehouse, with North Carolina State University architecture students, various North Carolina clerks of court, Charles E. Abstract: Architectural drawings and specifications documenting the works of William Henley Deitrick and his successor, Guy E. Crampton. Included are Deitrick's competition winning design for Needham Broughton High School (1928), his modernist Carolina County Club (1948), the prize winning Dorton Arena (with Matthew Nowicki, 1950-1951), and public housing pojects for the Raleigh Housing Authority. Crampton's designs include several buildings for Elon College (1965), the Wake Forest College Stadium (1966), numerous projects for the Wachovia Bank & Trust Co., and many public school buildings. The specifications are for buildings designed by Guy E. Crampton and Associates, including the Wake Forest College Stadium and public schools.

Abstract: Contained here are the specifications for the Louis R. Wilson Residence in Chapel Hill. These are one of the few building specifications for North Carolina structures during this time period and one of the few records of architect Charles Barrett. The building was the house of Louis Round Wilson, librarian and first director of the School of Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was the namesake for the Wilson Library on that campus.

Abstract: This collection consists of glass negatives and lantern slides chiefly depicting various aspects of agriculture in North Carolina and buildings on the campus of N.C. State University. Subjects include agricultural extension work, agricultural research, farms and farm life, animal husbandry, botany, horticulture, and crop science. One set of slides shows the university's first nuclear reactor; another comprises song slides that were presumably used at 4-H meetings or camps in the state. Many of the slides are hand-colored. Also included in the collection are photographic prints made from some of the negatives, manuscript material from the original storage containers, and examples of the original storage envelopes.
