The Charles Dearing Papers contains correspondence, research materials, and data gathered over Dearing's forty-year career.
As Director of the Coastal Plain Test Farm in Willard, North Carolina, Dearing oversaw experiments on grapes, strawberries,
and bluberries. The collection contains pollination records, field reports, vineyard reports, nursery lists, samples and block
notes. Dearing's research was primarily focused on grape research, especially of the muscadine variety.
