Henry Knox McIntyre received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1899 from Columbia University. He joined the faculty of the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) as an Assistant Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering in 1910, and served in varying professorships through 1926.
