            <abstract id="ref2" label="Abstract">The Earle La Rue Edwards papers consist of correspondence, programs, newsletters, and brochures regarding the Chinqua-Penn Plantation House, sports medicine, and Edwards's induction into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Also included are samples of letterhead stationery of the American Football Coaches Association.</abstract>
            <abstract id="ref3" label="Abstract">Earle La Rue Edwards (1908 - 1997) was the head football coach at North Carolina State University from 1954 to 1971. After his retirement, he became the Assistant Director of Foundations and Development. During his tenure as head coach, Edwards received the ACC Coach of the Year Award four times. His teams won five ACC titles and played in two bowl games. Edwards received a degree in engineering from Penn State. Before coming to North Carolina, he was an assistant coach at Penn State and Michigan State. He became president of the American Football Coaches Association in 1970, and was inducted into Sports Hall of Fame in North Carolina and Pennsylvania in 1974. He received the Watauga Medal from N.C. State in 1991.</abstract>
