Fellows and Projects
Preservation of Electronic Resources
As the NCSU Libraries
continue to acquire and create a growing number of electronic resources,
the development of standards and guidelines for the preservation
of digital collections has become a priority. As part of this project
the Fellow works with staff throughout the Libraries to identify
and prioritize electronic resources for preservation. The Fellow
will research current "best practices" for digital preservation
and work with a team of librarians to develop appropriate guidelines
and strategies for preserving access to digital collections. The
project will allow the Fellow to develop a greater understanding
of one of the most important preservation issues currently facing
academic libraries. The Fellow will have the opportunity to work
collaboratively with librarians throughout the NCSU Libraries as
well as other major academic libraries facing similar preservation
challenges.
