Collection Assessment and Policies for the 21st Century
The evolving composition of academic library collections presents new challenges in formulating clear policies for the selection, preservation and retention of resources. This project would involve working with Collection Managers in the formulation and development of user-focused collection policies covering electronic resources (including databases, ebooks and electronic journals), print collections, media, microforms and consortial purchases. Research current and best practices in ARL libraries and review of collection assessment techniques, especially in the areas the University emphasizes: genomic science and biotechnology, environmental sustainability, advanced materials, networking and information technology, K-12 Education and global competitiveness. The outcome of the project would be a model or template for future policies.
