Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) |
How do I create an ICPSR account?
When you go to
ICPSR, you can immediately search the consortium's holdings and read studies' descriptions without creating an account. You must have an account, however, to download the codebooks or data sets. It is sometimes referred to as a MyData account or ICPSRDirect account.
When you click on a study's Download tab, you will be asked to log in. Returning Users are prompted for their login on one side of the page but on the other side there is a button for New Users to Create Account. Clicking on that button will lead you to a page where you fill out brief information about yourself and create your own password. It's that simple!
Once you've logged in, you won't have to log in again for nine hours unless you close your browser.
Also, if you log in once from campus, your login will automatically be approved for off-campus access for six months. After that you just need to log in from campus again.
