About This Event

Epic Games Director of UserExperience (UX) Dr. Celia Hodent builds UX practices and strategies for videogames.  She is passionate about using psychology and neuroscience knowledge to solve design problems and make sure the player experience is always enjoyable and emotional. In this workshop, Celia will discuss with the group a user experience framework forgames. Participants will then play video games and analyze those games usingthe framework.   

Dr. Celia Hodent holds a Ph.D. in cognitivepsychology, initially specializing in the development of intelligence in childrenand adults. Early in her career, Celia stepped aside fromacademic research to work with an educational toymanufacturer, VTech. Celia joined Ubisoft Paris in 2008 to help theeditorial team to translate neuroscience knowledge into gamedesign features. She later worked for Ubisoft Montreal and LucasArts. Shejoined Epic Games in July 2013 to help guide the studio toward improveduser experience practices.   Throughouther career, she has worked on products including FortniteUnreal Engine 4Unreal Tournament, Assassin’sCreed, Star Wars: 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault
