The project's aim is to move digitization projects more towards automation for "more product, less process" mass digitization. We wanted a way to reuse the description we were already doing for collections guides to create initial access description of scanned items. An identifier scheme for items within archival collections was created which allows for automated metadata extraction. Given the identifier the Automead library can retrieve metadata out of the collection guides. Further work will include moving metadata into and out of our digital assets management system.
