America's historical newspapers

Web-based archive of Americana that features images and full-text content from many historical newspapers. Ser. 1, 1690-1876, provides access to historic newspapers listed in Clarence Brigham's authoritative bibliography, History and Bibliography of American Newspapers, 1690-1820, and in additional subsequent bibliographies. Ser. 6, 1741-1922, includes more than 160 significant 18th-, 19th- and 20th-century newspapers, including titles of unique historical significance, regional weeklies and big-city dailies, drawing from the newspaper collections of the American Antiquarian Society, Kansas Historical Society, the Library of Congress, Wisconsin Historical Society and other institutions. African American Newspapers, 1827-1998 enables users to search more than 270 African American newspapers published in the 19th and 20th centuries. Created in partnership with the Wisconsin Historical Society, the Kansas State Historical Society and the Library of Congress, African American Newspapers chronicles a century and a half of the African American experience.
