Research Community
A few organizations that provide information about data sets or regular seminars of interest to researchers.
The Carolina Population Center is a community of scholars and professionals collaborating on interdisciplinary research and methods that advance understanding of population issues. Based at
UNC - Chapel Hill, the center extends its resources to path-breaking work across the US and in more than 50 other countries and makes its findings available to a global audience. A nationally recognized training program educates the next generation of population scholars. Seminars at the Center in Chapel Hill are open to interested scholars.
"A weekly email report produced by the Center for Demography and Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that helps researchers keep up to date with the latest developments in the field. This report will contain selected listings of new: reports, articles, bibliographies, working papers, tables of contents, conferences, data, and websites."
A searchable archive of back issues is available. "CDERR is compiled and edited by Jack Solock, Charlie Fiss, and John Carlson of the University of Wisconsin Center for Demography and Ecology Information Services Center."
The University of Michigan hosts short-course training in quantitative data analysis every summer. Tuition is reduced for affiliates of ICPSR member institutions. Syllabi and reading lists from ICPSR Summer Programs back to 1995 are available on ICPSR's web site.
