Information Resources
for Graduate Research in Plant Pathology
In the sciences, including plant pathology, information and
research are strongly interdependent.
Information is important in planning and
performing research, such as when a scientist consults the work
of others in his or her field to identify previous research
on a topic or to collect specific information about a disease
organism, method, or biological process.
Information is also a product of the research
process, such as when a scientist publishes a journal article
describing their research. It is also a precursor to reasearch
in the form of grant proposals.
This guide will:
-
provide an overview of the research and
information cycle,
-
identify the key types of information
important in plant pathology research and
provide links to the resources that are available online,
-
provide guidance
on locating relevant information in the NCSU Libraries
and obtaining information when the library does not have
the item you need.
