Navigating the D.H. Hill Library
NCSU's main library opened in 1954 in what is now the east wing of the
building. It expanded into what had been the student union, now the
Erdahl-Cloyd, or west wing in 1971. At that time a nine story bookstack
tower was constructed to connect the two buildings. An addition to the
bookstack tower, on the complex's south side, opened in 1992. In 2005
renovation of the east wing began; the east wing reopened in March 2007.
It's sometimes confusing to find your way through this maze created over
time. Here are some bread crumbs:
