BUS 530: Managing People in the High Tech Environment
Company Information
You can find various types of company information: directory (address,
phone, key officers, with sales and employee size), financials, histories,
corporation profiles and annual reports, for example. This is all dependent
upon what information you need. These following web sites and databases
allow you to retrieve different types of information. Read the descriptions
and choose one which gives you the information you may need. Some may
require off campus access capability.
Business
Source Premier
- Provides extensive company profiles, industry profiles, country reports,
market research reports, and SWOT analyses.

- EDGAR
- Publicly traded companies are required to submit quarterly and annual
financial reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission. You can
search the SEC's EDGAR database directly, or you can use S&P Net
Advantage or Mergent to obtain these filings.
- Mergent Online
- Provides detailed corporate financial histories as well as country profiles
and maps. Includes over 16,000 U.S. public companies (active and inactive)
with full finanical filings, annual reports; over 20,000 international company
data and their hard-to-get annual reports; custom report capability; and industry
surveys for 19+ major industries groups.
- Morningstar Library Edition
- Provides comprehensive information on stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs,
including financials, ratios, and analysis.
- Reference USA
- This database provides detailed directory information on businesses, residents,
and health care providers. Basic company information (number of employees,
status as public or private company, etc.) is also included.

- Standard & Poor's
Net Advantage
- This database includes extensive information on companies as well as
industries. Company profiles and industry surveys are available.
- Thomson Research
- Enter either a company name or its ticker symbol, and do a search for the
company of your choice. Financial data, annual reports, and news reports
about the company are available.
