Finding Periodical Articles

If you are doing research on a current topic, you will probably want to begin your search with indexes to periodical literature. Think of a recent news event: first reports of it appeared on the internet, TV and radio, then in the daily newspaper, and next in weekly news magazines. Over time more lengthly articles on the event will appear in more scholarly journals, and next books on the topic might be published.

This section provides links to several indexes you can search to find articles that may interest you. For many of these articles you will be able to read its full text using links within the database. In other instances you will need to locate a hard copy of the periodical issue containing the article. To determine if the NCSU Libraries has a copy of the periodical, search for the periodical's title in the on-line catalog.

Off-campus access: Many of our databases are restricted to NC State-affiliated patrons only. Access to these resources is determined by the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the user's computer, which must be associated with NC State. Therefore, in order to access these resources from off-campus, patrons must identify themselves as NC State affiliates and connect through our proxy server.
