Journal Articles
The NCSU Libraries has a new service to make it easier to find
articles at the library, especially articles with full text online. Follow
these steps to obtain copies of the journal articles you find in your database
searches.
1. Look for Links to Full Text within the Database: 
Most databases at NCSU Libraries include the "Find Text@ NCSU" icon
(shown above) for every journal article. Clicking on this icon will open a
new window and search for the full text of the article online.
If full text is available online, the new window will include a hyperlink
to the full text.
If there is no full text link, you will need to search the library catalog
to see if we own the journal and find out where it is located. A link to the
library catalog is included in the new window, or, you can search the catalog
as described below.

2. Does the Library Have the Journal? Searching
the Library Catalog
If the database you are using does not have any links to full text online,
there are two options.
A. Use the Journal List to search for online versions
of articles (these may be either from journal subscriptions or included in
a database. If there is no online version, the search results page lets you
look for print versions. More detail on finidng print journals or articles
is included in the next section (B).
B. Use the library catalog to locate journals by name, but not individual
journal article titles.
Start your search on the the library
catalog.

First, select Journal Title as a radio button in the gray search options
box.

Then type in the complete title of the journal-- Example: Plant Diseases
(omit any beginning articles, such as "the" or "a").

Click on the Search button.
Look at the catalog record to locate the journal in the library.

All print journals are organized by call number.

Current journals are located in the Periodical Reading Room, and older
journals are located in the book stack towers (where books are located).
Maps are available to show which floor each call number is located on.

If the journal is available electronically, the catalog record will say "Electronic
Access" and have a link to the journal.
3. If the NCSU Libraries Does Not Have the Book or Journal
You Need:

Use the TripSaver/Interlibrary loan service to
obtain books and articles from other libraries.

This service is free to NCSU students, staff, and faculty.

If Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, or NCCU has the journal, the article usually
arrives within 2-4 business days. Other items may take longer.

Forms are available online (use the Request Items/TripSaver link
from the Services menu on the library home page.
