Course Instructor: Sue Carson
Librarian: Eleanor Smith
Cloning Resources @ the NCSU Libraries
This site contains information and links to a variety of resources
available for manipulating recombinant DNA and analyzing sequence
information. The contents of each section are described below, with
links to the appropriate page.
Sequence Information and Analysis
Describes and provides links to the major nucleotide
and protein sequence databases and sequence analysis tools. Provides
links to two search guides providing step-by-step instructions
for searching GenBank and PubMed (a
combined guide) and performing a BLAST comparison and
understanding the results screen.
Databases
Describes and provides links to the major bibliographic (literature or article)
databases for biotechnology topics. Since cloning and DNA methods can be
applied to many fields, subject related databases are also listed. The
page also includes key tips for doing a database search.
Journals
Describes how to find the electronic or print full text copy of articles
in journals here at the NCSU Libraries. And the availability of TripSaver
(interlibrary loan) services to provide copies of articles from journals
that the Libraries does not have.
Methods and Protocols
Links to resources for locating protocols and methods, including access to
the Libraries' subscription to Current
Protocols in Molecular Biology.
Cloning Links
A short list of links to cloning tools and products.
