HRAF is an internationally recognized organization in the field of cultural anthropology. The mission of HRAF is to encourage and facilitate worldwide comparative studies of human behavior, society, and culture.

National Anthropological Archives
The National Anthropological Archives collects and preserves historical and contemporary anthropological materials that document the world's cultures and the history of the discipline. Its collections represent the four fields of anthropology ethnology, linguistics, archaeology, and physical anthropology.

Anthro.Net
Anthro.net uses a unique search engine to hunt down Internet sites that contain useful content and information relating to anthropology.

American Anthropological Association
The AAA, the primary professional society of anthropologists in the United States since its founding in 1902, is the world's largest professional organization of individuals interested in anthropology.

AAA STYLE GUIDE
The AAA site contains a copy of the association's Style Guide. Go to pages 10-14 for a good set of example citations.

Royal Anthropological Institute
The Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland (RAI) is the world's longest-established scholarly association dedicated to the furtherance of anthropology (the study of humankind) in its broadest and most inclusive sense.

Society for Applied Anthropology
Promotes the investigation of human behavior and practical applications to contemporary issues.

American Cultural Resources Association
The ACRA's mission is to promote the professional, ethical and business practices of the cultural resources industry, including all of its affiliated disciplines, for the benefit of the resources, the public, and the members of the association.

Government sites

American Folklife Center
The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress was created by Congress in 1976 "to preserve and present American Folklife." The Center incorporates the Archive of Folk Culture, which was established at the Library in 1928 as a repository for American Folk Music.

National Museum of the American Indian
The first national museum dedicated to the preservation, study, and exhibition of the life, languages, literature, history, and arts of Native Americans, opening a new Washington museum in 2004.

National Science Foundation, Cultural Anthropology Program
The Cultural Anthropology Program promotes basic scientific research on the causes and consequences of human social and cultural variation.
